From data to decisions: turning dashboards into action.
How to wire models into the moments people actually choose.
Dashboards are useful until they become another place people forget to look. The next step is not always another chart. Often the missing layer is interpretation at the moment a person needs to decide.
Move from passive reporting to operational prompts
A useful AI layer sits close to the workflow. It explains why an account needs attention, summarizes the operational risk, drafts the follow-up, or routes the exception to the person who can fix it.
| Data state | Weak implementation | Better implementation |
|---|---|---|
| Metric changed | Show a red chart. | Explain what changed, why it matters, and what to inspect next. |
| Customer risk | Add another dashboard tile. | Generate an account brief and route it to the owner. |
| Operational exception | Send a generic alert. | Classify severity, attach evidence, and suggest a next action. |
| Repeated review | Ask a manager to check every row. | Prioritize only the rows that need human judgement. |
- Define the decision the user is trying to make.
- Identify the evidence they need at that moment.
- Attach AI output to a workflow step, not a separate novelty screen.
- Measure whether the next action became faster, clearer, or more accurate.
